Kids beach clean-up campaigns
There are multiple non-profit ecological organizations that exist nowadays in Kuwait, but very few aim to educate our kids. It is never too early to start caring for our nature, because by the end of the day children will protect the environment for themselves and for the future generations.
With my adapted for kids educational program, inspired by Project AWARE’s science program and Ocean Conservancy “Clean Swell” program, we successfully collaborate with local school institutions.
In 2022 more than 250 pupils (from 6 to 9 years old) participated in my beach clean-up program. Very easy to understand flip chart demonstration keeps kids focused on very important aspects of the environmental crisis.
Knowing what to look out for, from natural hazards such as sharp shells, fish bones, slippery rocks, etc. to man-made items such as broken glass, medical waste and other potentially harmful objects and substances, is important information to learn. And following beach games with memorable souvenirs for each participant make each event always a successful mission!

Facts and Numbers

Did you know?
-
More thann 8 million tons of plastic are dumped in our oceans every year, which is equal to the weight of 10.000 Blue Whales
-
It takes a really long time for plastic to break down in the ocean, sometimes even hundreds of years! So when we throw plastic away, it can stay in the ocean for a very, very long time.
-
Tiny pieces of plastic called microplastics can be found in the ocean too. These can be eaten by small animals, and they can even end up in the fish that we eat. That’s why it’s important to reduce our use of plastic and recycle as much as we can.
